Sean Hoskins works at the intersection of dance and technology as a creator, educator, and performer, developing engaging work for both stage and screen. He began his dance training at Middlebury College, studying with Andrea Olson, Penny Campbell, Peter Schmitz, and Amy Chavasse. He earned his MFA from the University of Michigan, where he participated in numerous interdisciplinary projects and further refined his interests and skills in dance and technology.
Over the past fifteen years, Sean has performed, taught, and presented his work across the United States, with engagements in Boston, New York City, Detroit, San Francisco, and Portland, Oregon. His choreography was selected for the National College Dance Festival at the Kennedy Center. Recent projects include creating new works at Hillsdale College and the University of Michigan, as well as collaborations with Suttle Dance Company and artists Jessica Post, Rachel Boggia, and Cristina Lilianfeld. As a performer, Sean has danced with Leslie Seiters’ little known dance theater, ChavasseDance&Performance, Peck Peck Dance Ensemble, and the Dance Company of Middlebury, and has appeared in works by Paul Matteson, Jessica Fogel, Terri Creach, Peter Schmitz, Susan Sgorbati, and Eduardo Mariscal, among others.
Sean is currently a Lecturer in Dance at Hillsdale College, where he teaches modern technique and choreographs new work. He also serves as a Media Consultant for the School of Music, Theatre & Dance at the University of Michigan, contributing to marketing, technology, and archival initiatives while instructing students in video and audio editing. Previously, Sean was part-time faculty and full-time Dance Media and Production Coordinator at Wayne State University. He has led workshops and classes at Oakland University, Middlebury College, Bates College, Berwick Academy, Enloe Magnet School (NC), and regularly at American College Dance Association regional conferences. Additionally, he directed the dance program at Blair Academy in New Jersey and worked with Sports4Kids and Fitness in Transit in Oakland, California.
