Project Description

Installation with 9 tube TVs, each playing an edited recording of an individual dancer. Music is Aleathea, by Gala Flagello.

Themes:
Created in virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, the work presents a haunting performance scenario: televisions reflect light on the Marley floor of a nearly empty studio, and separated masked dancers perform on the screens alone, yet together.

Notes
The final recording was meant to be solely the TVs in the space. On the night of filming it proved necessary to add the live viewers watching the TVs — adding a layer of human encounter. Additionally, my cast was dynamite, having just one cautious in-person rehearsal prior to capture day.
